Bella’s game was innovative and fun. It encapsulated the adventure aspects of the novel Brian’s Return and demonstrated Bella truly understood the plot and themes. Her classmates also enjoyed playing the board game immensely.

Noa chose to create a mystery while studying A Ruby in Smoke. She worked on writing an intriguing crime scene, a dynamic detective, and an interesting clue that lead to a devious suspect. Her story had all those as well as excellent names like Applebottom.

Gary created a quiz to test others knowledge of Coraline. As all teachers know making a test is much harder than it looks because you have to truly know the details that are key to the plot character and theme. Gary demonstrated his understanding clearly in this way.

Susan is very hard-working and dedicated to her course work. She has strong reading skills and is usually a great contributor to the classroom discussion. Areas that require improvement for Susan are her application of grammar and writing. Susan knows the conventions of grammar and catches most of her mistakes during revision, but her eagerness to quickly complete assignments causes her to make mistake. In terms of writing, Susan needs to work on choosing the best quote for support and explaining that quote fully. In writing thesis statements Susan needs to work on communicating the author’s purpose, beyond the novel, in her argument.

Soyoon is a very dedicated and hardworking student, whose eagerness to excel is clearly opponent in her mannerisms. She has demonstrated original thinking during classroom discussions and in her essay. Soyoon takes her teachers’ feedback very seriously and as a result has shown tremendous improvement. It was an absolute pleasure teaching her!
